Tullow Grange ArdattinPARISH NEWSLETTERSunday 4th May 2008Ascension of the LordQUESTIONS PEOPLE ASK
In the forty days between the Resurrection and Ascension where was Jesus or what was he doing?
Jesus was fully glorified at his resurrection. His earthly body had gone, having served the mission of the incarnation. However, for the sake of his disciples in their transition from knowing him in the flesh to knowing him by faith, he came back to them in various apparitions. In each apparition story a particular aspect of faith is emphasised such as knowing the Lord in personal call (Magdalene), the breaking of bread, the appointment of Peter as shepherd. The Ascension marks the final departure of Jesus and the closure of the transition period. ‘Blessed are those who have not seen and yet believe’.
