Our parish of Tullow in County Carlow, Ireland, includes the three churches of Tullow, Grange and Ardattin. We have parish schools adjacent to each of these churches and a distinguished Community School. The 50th International Eucharistic Congress 2012 will take place in Dublin from 10th to 17th June, 2012. Volunteers will have an integral role to play in the success of the Congress. Between two and three thousand volunteers will be needed during the week of the Congress and also to assist in preparations in the months leading up to the Congress. On the 1st Sunday of Advent, the new English edition of ‘ The Roman Missal’ was fully introduced. In Kildare and Leighlin Diocese, we are also introducing a common practice of posture at Mass in accordance with the Missal. We hope that a common practice will help make people feel even more welcome and at home in whatever Church in our diocese that they attend the celebration of the Eucharist.

We congratulate Monsignor Brendan on being the winner in the Category of Social leadership in 2011 RehabCare Carlow Person of the Year Awards. Monsignor Brendan was the first Parish Priest to be appointed to Tullow in 1989 and is Diocesan Administrator for the Diocese of Kildare and Leighlin at the moment. He celebrated the Golden Jubilee of his ordination to the priesthood this year, so 2011 is a special year in his life.
